As we wake up to a new year and a new decade, I want to thank everyone who has ran with us. Not just in 2019, but ever since we organised our first race in September 2010. Your passion and commitment to running provides constant inspiration for myself and the small team at Run Nation and we feel honoured to be part of your running journey.
We often see and hear inspirational stories about running and how it changed lives, bringing people together and creating some amazing friendships. In 2020, we celebrate 10 years of Run Nation and we want to celebrate throughout the year by setting ourselves new goals and making a positive impact in a number of ways.
We will be looking at how we can become more sustainable and ban single use plastic from our events. We will also make a positive contribution to the environment by planting a tree for every runner who takes part in a Run Nation event in 2020.
We have strong links with Kenya and in 2020, we will be supporting conservation and education through running. The Run Nation Foundation will be aiming to help fund a school in Nyahururu, Kenya. The Foundation will also have a focus in the UK and will be launching its UK programme in April 2020.
There will be a number of new events in 2020, with the Alnwick Castle Trail 10k and Kielder Castle hosting the Cross Border Trail half marathon in Northumberland, to Southampton Common and Epping Forest in the south all coming up on the first 6 months of 2020.
Ever since setting up Run Nation, I have been passionate about the events we put on. Many of our races are held in iconic locations such as Bamburgh Castle, Cragside, Loch Rannoch, Hadrians Wall and even some historic parks in London such as Victoria Park and Greenwich Park.
We will continue to strive to be better and we do this because we realise we cannot stand still and we want you to enjoy our events every time you run with us. Our Run Nation Running Club is growing and growing - we want you all to benefit from its membership in the future and we will be adding events and special offers for our members in 2020. Watch out for more news in the next members newsletter coming soon.
We look forward to a busy year ahead and we really hope we can continue to be part of your running journey.
Here’s to a big year ahead!
