On a blustery day in Northumberland just under 550 runners competed in the Run Northumberland BIG 20 Miler and Half Marathon. Stephen Jackson (Elvet Striders) ran the 20 mile course in 01:54:52, Ali Bailey was close behind in second place with a time of 01:55:11, in third Daniel Alexander (Gateshead Harriers & AC) with a time of 01:55:33. The fastest female was Lorna Macdonald (Morpeth Harriers & AC) with a time of 02:21:40, in second Lisa Tang (Tynedale Harriers & AC) ran the 20 miles in 02:23:07, with Ruth Dadswell (Birtley AC) just over a minute behind with a time of 02:24:08.
In the Half Marathon Lee Dover (Houghton Harriers & AC) was the winner with a time of 1:15:54. Martin Hallissey (Ponteland Runners) finished second with a time of 1:17:27 in third place Ryan Nokes (City of Stoke AC) completed the Half Marathon in 1:17:41. The fastest female, 2016 Olympic marathon runner, Alyson Dixon (Sunderland Strollers), ran the course in 1:26:14. Second place Hannah Wood (Low Fell RC) ran in 1:27:18, Third place Katie Dodds completed the course in 1:35:41. Team prizes for the half marathon were won by Blyth RC.in both male and female categories.
